EU Affairs Minister Ciamba, Finnish State Secretary Antonnen discuss Multiannual Financial Framework negotiations, EP elections

The completion of the negotiation process regarding UK's exit from the European Union, negotiations on the post-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework and the forthcoming European elections in May 2019 were among the subjects of talks this Friday between Minister Delegate for European Affairs George Ciamba and Secretary of State with Finland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Matti Anttonen, the Foreign Ministry said in a release.

Friday's meeting took place in the context of the Finnish official's visit to Bucharest to attend the informal Meeting of EU State Secretaries and Secretaries-General from the foreign ministries of EU member states.

During the meeting, the Minister Delegate for European Affairs presented the progress of preparations for Romania's term at the helm of the Council of the European Union and emphasized the importance of a permanent dialogue with the Republic of Finland, which will succeed Romania at the EU Presidency in the second half of 2019.

The two officials also approached various topical issues on the European agenda that could influence the common agenda of priorities, such as negotiations that remain to be completed on UK's withdrawal from the EU, negotiations on the post-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework, and the forthcoming European elections in 2019.
